Discover the flavours of Indian cuisine in Warrington

If you are looking for an Indian restaurant in Warrington for the first time, choosing something to eat can be a daunting process with the many different Indian foods on offer.  However deciphering the names of Indian dishes is not nearly as complicated as it looks.  Most dishes are named according to the cooking process used to prepare them or from their place of origin.  Others can be named according to the texture or main flavour – for example Achaari Murg is named after its flavoursome pickle-like taste.

At The Spice Lounge (www.thespicelounge.com) we want you to enjoy discovering the flavours of Indian cuisine and here is a guide to just a couple of the dishes available to enjoy:

Bhuna Dishes

Bhuna means to sauté or stir fry and many of the Indian dishes we create require our chefs to lightly fry the spices to unleash all those lovely flavours.  You can find a Bhuna dish to suit most palettes with dishes available in mild to hot.  In this style dish you will be treated to the flavours of cinnamon, bay leaves, cardamom, coriander, pepper, chillies, cumin and classic Bhuna ingredients such as tomatoes and onions.

The distinctive texture of a Bhuna comes from the cooking style – meats and vegetables are cooked in their own juices without any extra water being added.  The Bhuna has a thick gravy that can be combined well with dry and wet side dishes as well as going well with Naans, Chapatis and Parathas.

Dopiaza Dishes

‘Do’ means two and ‘piaza’ means onions so this dish is prepared with two lots of onions.  The first batch of onions makes up a thick tasty  gravy.  To this gravy the main ingredient is added along with the second batch of onions. Spices characteristic of this dish are chilli, garam masala, cumin and coriander.  These dishes are great with rice pilaffs and breads.
